This fibre glass replica of an unusual Crandall spring horse is one of a limited number (reputedly 200) made by Ragamuffin Toys of Guernsey in the late 1970's. He is in exceptionally fine condition being virtually mint in every aspect. The sturdy spring provides an usual rocking action. Jesse Crandall was a major American rocking horse maker, who designed this unusual rocking mechanism in 1861. (US Patent No 31571, 26 Feb 1861). The design was a popular alternative to the traditional bow rocker until the advent of the Marqua safety stand in 1880.
